Step-Down Centre

is a facility for terminally ill patients under the supervision of our Hospice and it is situated within the Divine Mercy Centre. Hospice is governed by a Board of governors, who are selected out of the community. They oversee that Hospice delivers quality comprehensive palliative care for all, as it is the vision of the Hospice Palliative Care Association with whom we are affiliated.

 

As members of HPCA, we are involved in an accreditation process through the Council of Health Standards Accreditation of South Africa, which ensures us to deliver quality palliative home-based care in the 6 sub-districts in 11 towns.

Services provided:

  1. Home Community Based Palliative Care

  2. Day Care Centre programs

  • Pediatric Palliative and Supportive care to Orphans and Vulnerable Children

  • HIV/AIDS Counseling and Testing (HCT)

  • ART Adherence support and TB Treatment Support

  • Peer Education, Health promotion, Prevention and Education programs,

  • Infection control and prevention

   3. Care and Support to Health Care Workers in all programs.
